What’s the Best Headset for Xbox One?
When it comes to fully compatible headsets for the Xbox One, there isn’t much to choose from, however, there have been a few that have caught the eye so far. Expect more to come out later in the year.
Though for now, the best xbox 360 headsets are generally the best for the Xbox One. If you own a headset for your old 360, then it’s likely all you’ll need is a Microsoft Headset Adapter (available here) for around $25. If you’re in the market for a brand new headset then I would suggest looking at the ones available for the Xbox 360, as they are the best bet at this moment in time, however I expect that to change in the very near future.
With that in mind, let’s start looking at some of the best gaming headsets you can use for your Xbox One. I have split these up into 3 groups:
- Best under $100
- Best in-between $100-$200
- Best over $200
Xbox One Headset Reviews
Best Gaming Headset for Xbox One under $100 – Microsoft Xbox One Stereo Headset ($79.99)
It’s by no means as flash as other headsets out there, nor is it up there in terms of features, however, what you do get with this headset (for a bargain price might I add) is superb sound. If you’re a casual gamer who doesn’t want to spend a bucket load of cash on the very best, then this headset should be your one of choice.
It’s fully compatible with the Xbox One, which means there’s no need to fork out for the additional adapter (mentioned above). There’s no gimmicks about this headset, and it’s simplistic nature underlines its brilliance. You get a detachable adapter that allows you to control chat vs in-game volume, and a button to mute the mic. The mic is also unidirectional allowing you to capture your voice as clearly as possible.
To add to its simplicity, there are no complicated set-up instructions, simply plugin in to your controller and away you go.
The look of the Microsoft Xbox One headset isn’t going to make you drool, it’s just a combination of matte black and glossy plastic. It’s very understated design is a selling point, as it adds a certain sophistication to it.
If you’re looking for a good xbox one headset at an affordable price, then you might want to consider Microsoft’s Official Xbox One Stereo Headset.
Best Headset for Xbox One Between $100-$200 – Tritton 720+ ($149.99)
Due to Microsoft’s recent firmware update that allows the Xbox One to receive Dolby Digital sound, previously incompatible surround sound headsets are now finally compatible, with the addition of the Microsoft adapter of course.
The 720+ from Tritton is a solid choice in the mid price range, and it consistently recommended by more hardcore gamers. As well as exceptional surround sound and audio performance, the look and feel of the Tritton 720+ is one of the more appealing of all the headsets available.
If you want a quality surround sound headset for the Xbox One, without breaking the bank too much, then the Tritton 720+ is your best bet.
Best Xbox One Headset over $200 – Astro A50 ($299.99)
Although this wireless headset isn’t designed for the Xbox One, you can still use it. If you want a true high-end gaming headset, then you should look no further than the Astro Gaming brand.
Providing the highest quality sound and wireless technology of any headset in its price range, they really need to be tested out to be believed.
You’ll need an adapter (mentioned above), so it’s not going to be entirely wire-free, but that’s a very minimal sacrifice for such a high quality headset.
You can also use the Astro’s for PC, PS4, PS3, and Xbox 360.
